I like and admire teachers who break cover from the usual classroom stuff and get to think and create out and away from the box! EBOGA SHARIFU is one of them.
Eboga Sharifu is the patron of the ICT Club at Namwezi Senior Secondary School in Mbiko, Buikwe District, located about seven kilometers from Jinja town. A professional teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts with Education from Kampala University, Sharifu has been teaching at Namwezi SS for five years. His passion for both education and technology has driven him to seek innovative ways to improve learning and administrative efficiency within the school. This dedication led him to successfully develop Jasiri SchoolApp, an app-based digital solution designed to streamline school administrative processes.
In an interview with me, Sharifu shared that his inspiration for developing Jasiri SchoolApp stemmed from the challenges he encountered in manually preparing student report cards. The traditional method was time-consuming, error-prone, and inefficient. Recognizing these flaws, he created a digital solution aimed at simplifying and streamlining the report card generation process.
Jasiri SchoolApp is a software program that automates the creation of student report cards. Teachers enter students’ assessment results into the system, which then processes the data and generates structured, accurate, and well-organized reports. The primary beneficiaries of this project include teachers, students, parents, and school administrators. The app reduces teachers’ workload, provides students and parents with clearer academic reports, and helps administrators improve efficiency in record-keeping.
Sharifu acknowledged that the implementation of the project was not without challenges. Some of the difficulties included training teachers to use the system, debugging technical issues, and managing the costs of server hosting and maintenance. However, he overcame these obstacles by conducting hands-on training, refining the software based on user feedback, and identifying cost-effective solutions.
Namwezi SS has played a key role in supporting the project by allowing its implementation within the school and providing a platform for testing and adoption. Sharifu also highlighted how the project has benefited him personally, as it has enhanced his skills in software development and educational technology. He takes satisfaction in solving a critical problem within the school system, all while gaining invaluable experience in ICT integration.

Additionally, the ICT Club students at Namwezi SS have gained valuable insights from the project. They’ve developed practical skills in software development, database management, and real-world problem-solving using technology. Sharifu emphasized that initiatives like Jasiri SchoolApp demonstrate how ICT can be effectively integrated into the education sector to bring about meaningful change.
Looking ahead, Sharifu envisions expanding Jasiri SchoolApp to schools beyond Namwezi SS. His goal is to enhance its features, incorporate additional functionalities, and make it accessible to a wider audience. Sharifu firmly believes that technology has the power to revolutionize education, making school administration more efficient and improving the learning experience for students. He expressed his openness to collaborating with other educators and developers to further refine and expand the system.
